Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect the minimum we need to answer your questions and do good work, we don’t sell it to anyone, and we don’t follow you around the internet. This page spells out the details in plain English — because a privacy policy you can’t read isn’t much of a policy.

What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

• Contact details you give us — your name, business name, email, and phone number when you send a quote request or talk to our assistant.
• Project details you share — whatever you tell us about your business and what you need built.
• Basic technical data — page visits, referral source, and device/browser type, used only to understand how the site is doing.

That’s it. No advertising identifiers, no purchased data, no social profiling.

Chat conversations

Our AI assistant keeps a transcript of your conversation so we can pick up where it left off and follow through on what you asked for. Transcripts are kept for 90 days, after which personal details — names, emails, phone numbers — are automatically replaced with [REDACTED]. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time; see Your choices below.

Analytics & cookies

We use Matomo to see which pages people actually read. We host it ourselves at stats.co50.com, so the numbers stay with us — they aren't sent to Google, an ad network, or anyone else, and we don't sell or share them.

Matomo sets a few small first-party cookies so it can tell a returning visitor from a brand-new one. That's the whole job — there's no advertising profile behind it and no tracking of you across other websites. See exactly what it stores.

Forms & spam protection

The quote form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which verifies you’re human without puzzles or tracking cookies. When you submit the form, your message goes directly to us by email and into our client system — nowhere else.

Where your data lives

Form submissions and chat transcripts are stored on infrastructure we manage in the United States. Client project data lives in our own client portal at client.co50.com, behind individual logins. We keep backups for recovery purposes, on the same terms as the originals.

Your choices

• See it — ask us what we have about you and we’ll send it over.
• Fix it — if something’s wrong, we’ll correct it.
• Delete it — ask, and we’ll remove your information unless we’re required to keep it (like invoices for tax records).

These terms cover how we work together when you hire Company 50 or use this website. We’ve kept them plain and fair — no traps in the fine print. If anything here differs from what we agreed in writing for your specific project, your project agreement wins.

What we do

Company 50 designs and builds websites, software, and automations for small businesses, and provides hosting and ongoing care for the things we build. The exact scope, price, and timeline for your work live in the quote or proposal we send you — this page covers the general ground rules underneath all of it.

Quotes & estimates

A quote describes the work, the price, and what’s included. It’s valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise. Work that falls outside an agreed quote — new features, extra rounds of changes, things neither of us saw coming — is handled as a separate estimate before we start it, so there are no surprise line items.

Payment & invoices

Most projects start with a deposit, with the balance invoiced at agreed milestones or on completion. Hosting and care plans are billed on a recurring schedule. Invoices are due within the terms printed on them. If an invoice goes unpaid, we may pause work or hosting until it’s settled — we’ll always warn you first.

Timelines & your part

Good work is a two-way street. We commit to realistic timelines and clear communication; in return we need timely feedback, content, and approvals from you. If a project stalls on our side, we’ll make it right. If it stalls waiting on materials from you, the timeline moves with it.

Ownership of your work

Once your project is paid for in full, the custom work we built for you is yours — the design, the content we produced, and the code specific to your project. We keep the rights to our own underlying tools, libraries, and techniques, and we may show finished work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

Hosting & third-party services

Some projects rely on outside services — payment processors, email providers, domain registrars, and the like. Those come with their own terms, and their uptime and pricing are outside our control. Where we host your site, our hosting plan describes what’s covered.

What we don’t promise

We build things carefully and stand behind our work, but the website and this page are provided “as is.” We can’t promise the site will be error-free or available every second, that search engines will rank you a certain way, or that any specific business result will follow. Anything we do warrant for your project will be written into your project agreement.

Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, Company 50 isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profits, lost data, downtime caused by third parties — and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the work it relates to. Nothing here limits anything that legally can’t be limited.

Ending a project

Either of us can end an engagement with reasonable written notice. If you cancel partway through, you’re billed for the work completed up to that point and we’ll hand over what’s been paid for. Care and hosting plans can be cancelled at the end of a billing period.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, and any dispute is handled in the courts of Rhode Island. We’d always rather pick up the phone and sort it out first.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page as our services change. The “last updated” date at the top tells you when. Changes don’t retroactively alter a project agreement already in place — those are governed by the terms you signed.

The short version

This site sets a handful of first-party cookies for one purpose: counting visits properly. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, nothing sold or handed to a third party.

What we set

Our self-hosted Matomo analytics sets these on co50.com:

• _pk_id — tells a returning visitor from a new one. Lasts about 13 months.
• _pk_ses — marks your current visit so a dozen page views count as one session. Lasts 30 minutes.
• _pk_ref — remembers how you arrived (a search, a link, a social post) so we can credit the right source. Lasts about six months.

Separately, the chat assistant stores a random conversation ID in your browser's local storage — not a cookie — so your conversation survives a page refresh. It's a random string, not your name.

Why we bother

Without them, one curious person reading six pages looks identical to six different people reading one page each. We use the difference to decide what to write more of — nothing more ambitious than that.

Turning it off

Your browser can block or delete cookies for this site at any time, and the site will work exactly the same — recognition across visits becomes less reliable, which is entirely your right. Most browsers also offer a private window, which discards everything when you close it.
